Hunting:

Survival hunting is the active or passive attempt to catch or kill an animal using a somewhat primitive tool, which was crafted wholly or at least partially from natural materials. Each general type has its benefits and shortcomings.

Active hunting is called a high percentage technique, as it has a higher chance of getting food for the skilled hunter on any given day than the passive techniques. It involves the actual physical hunter using some form of weapon such as a bow or sling to find and kill an animal.

Passive hunting involves hunting methods which work without you physically being present to capture or kill an animal. It involves various traps and snares. Passive hunting is a low percentage technique in that numerous traps or snares and often a large amount of time are necessary to procure a single animal. Over time, passive techniques are more reliable for a skilled hunter than active techniques.

There are numerous tools both active and passive which one can fashion themselves for emergency hunting gear.
